Plastic surgery solutions for acne scars
04.22.06 (1:39 am)   [edit]

As acne heals , it is very normal to find scars in the form of red marks. But it is not a big thing to worry as I said it is very normal. But if we are looking for a cure immediately then the best way that we can find is Plastic Surgery.

Before going for a plastic surgery for acne scars please understand that acne scars typically fade over time. Some take few weeks while some upto twelve months. Whatever the reasons for stressing on immediate results, you need to be very careful in knowing what you are getting into.

Laser resurfacing is a new type of treatment for acne scars that is slowly gaining popularity. The specialty about this treatment is that it can be done on the entire face or on specific regions. Though this surgery is done in conjunction with other cosmetic surgeries, this can also be done separately.

But not every one is an ideal person to undergo this kind of treatment. The lasers and creams used cause irritation on few people. So you need to find a very good surgeon for this treatment.

Also very popular way of treating acne scars is dermabrasion. The irregularities in surface edges of the skin pores are surgically scraped to make them smooth.

Both the above-mentioned treatments need time and test patience of the patient. And treatments do not offer 100% guarantee treatments.

So before you decide to get a plastic surgery done (don’t get confused with the term PLASTIC, the real plastic has nothing to do with surgery), gauge your situations – physical, mental and financial.

Pimple or cyst in my nose
04.20.06 (3:36 am)   [edit]

Every six out of ten people have problems with pimples . However there are only few who happen to get pimples inside the nose.

It starts off as a small irritation in the nose. The small irritation gradually increases in the pain felt. Or sometimes, it can be found only when one is cleaning ones nose. Actually it doesn’t matter how to find if a pimple inside the nose exists. But one has to note that the same rules that apply to treat normal pimples on the skin apply for its treatment too. The same rules apply for the treating.

Though anybody can explain how acne grows, no one exactly knows why acne grows. Because it is known how it grows, it is possible to avoid the growth of the pimples, whether on the normal skin or INSIDE the nose.

The first thing that any pimple tempts you to do is to POP it. Now few think popping is fine as long as it is done safely. Some say it causes scars, which is what we call CYSTS. Both of which are not proved yet. But any body can be tempted to POP the pimple inside the nose because no one can see if there is a scar.

But I say DON’T pop it up. It will be irritating, but popping it inside the nose, create more irritation inside the nose. Of course the fact that there are hair inside your nose, makes it more risky as the bacteria can settle down, no matter how clean you keep it.

The best solution for treating this is taking balanced diet. Avoid coffee, chocolates and excess oils. And take food containing Vitamin B. It will help. And be patient. That’s how you can decrease your chances of growing cysts in your nose.

And as soon as you realize the pimple is gone, make sure you use safe and clean scissors to cut the hair in your nostrils. There is too much of it there.

Six Step Treatment for Acne
04.19.06 (12:15 am)   [edit]

Do you want to know about simple six-step treatment that keeps you away from acne infections?

Here are the six steps for effective treatment of acne. Follow these six steps to keep your skin healthy and acne-free.

Step 1 - Cleanse

The first and foremost step in any skin care regimen is cleaning your skin. It is not only important but also essential for healthy skin. A good cleanser will remove make-up, oil build up, dirt and other debris from skin surface. Thus it prepares skin for other acne fighting treatments. Medicated cleansers are good for acne prone skin.

Step 2 - Tone

Use a soothing, refreshing, pH balanced toner to gently prepare your skin for moisturization without stripping its essential oils. It attracts and retains moisture in the skin. A good toner includes soothing rosemary, aloe, althea, chamomile, and cucumber. It completes the cleansing process by preparing skin for further treatment.

Step 3 - Treat

Treat your specific skin care concerns to visibly improve the skin quality. Also try to diminish the visible signs of aging with better treatment formulas.

Step 4 - Moisturize

Moisturizer cleanses the skin, unclogs pores and prevents the appearance of blemishes such as blackheads and whiteheads, which can cause acne. It can help the persons with even the most sensitive skin to maintain acne-free skin. Moisturizers contain essential oils that, instead of making your skin look greasy, actually enhance the epidermal surface and make it look even and natural. It increases oxygen supply to the tissues and facilitates the skin’s biochemical processes and reactions.

Step 5 - Replenish

Use serum to make breakouts from oily skin a distant memory. A good serum contains oil reducing and repair stimulating ingredients. It helps control breakouts and diminishes the appearance of scarring. It stimulates cell turnover and collagen production. It restructures and conditions while improving the skin's natural ability to retain moisture.

Step 6 - Protect

Always wear sunscreen when you go outdoors. Prolonged exposure to sun actually promotes comedones and sun damage. Some kinds of acne medication make skin more sensitive to the sun. So sunscreen is more important. It protects you from environmental damage. When selecting a sunscreen, look for products that are oil-free and have a protection factor of at least SPF 15 for both UVA and UVB rays.

Is blemish control good for pimples?
04.18.06 (1:55 am)   [edit]

There some typical solutions that anyone offers to cure or treat pimples. But there is no particular medication for treating the blemishes. And rather than discuss whether controlling blemishes is good or not, I would say about the ingredients and talk about the procedures to use them are good or not.

Ultimately fighting blemishes comes down to find the correct combination that helps rather than creates new problems.

The most widely used ingredient in blemish control products is benzoyl peroxide.

There has been exhaustive research that concludes that it is good for skin as it penetrates deep into the skin. It is found that it kills the bacteria in the skin pores without causing too much off irritation.

But research shows that benzoyl peroxide dries the skin excessively, and disturbs the skin’s moisture balance.

So it makes sense to control the excessive usage of benzoyl peroxide, because it is not necessary to dry out the skin to control blemishes.

Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) & Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) are used to exfoliate the skin. But in many cases BHA is preferred to AHA. But BHA can also cause irritation as it cuts down into the pore, fighting against the bacteria. So for them AHA would serve better. Or if even that is irritating, they can use a topical scrub. It all depend know your skin better.

The dermatologists prefer using Retinoids these days. These help in giving a better shape to the pores. It can be used in excess to exfoliating the skins. But one has to be careful not to use retinoids like Retin–A with benzoyl peroxide. This could actually result in a disaster.

I would suggest you to take your dermatologists suggestion to fight blemishes if you think you don’t know your skin. Controlling Blemishes is definitely good for pimples. Because the cleaner your skin pores are, the lesser pimples that you’ll have. However, there is no one reason found why pimples occur.

Septra & Acne
04.04.06 (4:16 am)   [edit]

If you have severe acne, including painful lumps, or if your skin does not respond to topical medications, the best option is using oral antibiotics. If you have severe back acne, which is hard to treat with topical products oral antibiotics are very useful.

Septra, also known as sulfamethoxazole trimethoprim generically, is one such oral antibiotic, which can treat even the more severe grades of acne. It takes up to 6-8 weeks to see the full benefit of Septra. But you cannot see its benefits if you stop using it. Anyone using Septra should avoid excess sun exposure.

There is a myth that Septra may decrease the effectiveness of oral contraceptives. But, recently a large well designed study has shown that Septra do not decrease the effectiveness of the birth control pill if the two medications are given at the same time. However, using a backup method can eliminate any concern and has its own benefits. It is advisable to discuss it further with your doctor if you have any doubts.

The sulfamethoxazole component of Septra is a sulfur-containing drug. Though it causes fewer side effects than the other sulfa drugs, its side effects should also be respected. The most common significant adverse effects are allergic skin reactions. But sometimes they may become quite severe. So, it’s better to discontinue Septra at the first sign of a skin rash.

Does sucralose cause acne?

Now a days, Splenda is added to hundreds of foods and beverages sold in the United States and abroad. It is the brand name for the non-nutritive sweetener sucralose. There are no long-term studies done to show how sucralose reacts in the human body. Despite this lack of research, sucralose is added in many products which claim to be healthy. People think that they are somehow better than those with sugar. But the fact is that no one knows what the long-term effects of sucralose on acne.

People buy it thinking - it is FDA-approved and so it must be safe. But one can see many products approved by FDA turned out to be unfit for human use.

It is commonly thought that sucralose passes through the body unabsorbed. According to FDA tests, 11 percent to 27 percent of sucralose is absorbed by humans. Tests by the Japanese Food Sanitation Council show that up to 40 percent may actually be absorbed.

But, Splenda Web site says like this:

“Studies have shown that about 15% of ingested sucralose is passively absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. The small amount of sucralose that is absorbed is distributed to essentially all tissues.”

Sucralose has been the subject of only fewer scientific studies than any other non-nutritive sweetener. Splenda site states that Splenda does not cause any side effects. But some people experienced acne or acne-like rash. This symptom might indeed have other contributing causes. But most people stated that acne began around the same time they started using Splenda. And then subsequently disappeared when it was removed from their diet. If you also find yourself experiencing acne its better to remove Splenda from your diet.

Treatment for Pimples on Back by Spine
03.31.06 (4:20 am)   [edit]
How to cure pimples on back by spine?

Back acne is highly prevalent, and often harder to treat than facial acne. The back is made of tough skin with thousands of sebaceous glands, which produce a lot of oil leading to acne formation. Acne on the back is often more severe, sometimes with many nodules and cysts.

Generally we spend lot of time washing our face, legs and hands. But, we tend to neglect cleaning our back. This causes development of unsightly pimples on back by spine along with boils on the back. If you live in a warm and humid climate, you are more susceptible to get such pimples.

The only way to avoid pimples on your back is to scrub your back with a loofah or washcloth when in the shower. Apply soap, scrub your body well, especially on your back, and wash off.

Scrubbing your back gives many benefits. It not only cleans up the skin completely, it also clears out pores and enables your body to pump out toxins more effectively. It also reduces the chances of developing unsightly cellulite. In addition, scrubbing pumps up blood circulation and aids blood flow to the heart.

One of the best way is to treat pimples on your back by spine is to a spa-like salt scrub. Salt scrubs help transform even dry, coarse skin into soft, glowing skin. You can make this using 1-cup sea salt and enough water or oil to form a paste. Oil is preferable to water.

Dampen your entire body. Then massage this mixture all over your body concentrating on your back. You can also take the help of a masseur or your spouse to do this. Once massaging is over, take a loofah and start scrubbing in a circular motion so that the mixture gets into your skin. Then, work upwards beginning at the feet. After massaging for half an hour, take a shower with warm water, and towel dry.

Your can feel your skin incredibly soft, and it will be glowing with richness. Do this on a weekly basis to get better results. If that is not possible, do this at least once a month.

In addition to medication, there are many homemade remedies that can help in clearing acne forever. Of course make sure you do not have allergies to any of these ingredients. Remember, they are going to be used on your face, a very sensitive part of the body. Try as many of these remedies as you like. Some are simple remedies, while some are more complex. Follow whatever is easiest and discover what works best for you.

Anti Aging Eye Perfecting Cream
03.27.06 (11:10 pm)   [edit]

Aging is a natural process. But, millions of people worldwide are concerned about growing older and search for anti-aging solutions. It is surely not healthy to be completely obsessed with aging. Today there are hundreds of products and treatments that can make you look and feel younger while slowing the aging process. Some of the most popular anti-aging products are skin supplements. Anti-aging creams or anti-wrinkle creams are a rage and can provide one with soothing treatment that improves the skin texture. Many of the anti-aging cosmetics allow one to see improvement while retaining the natural beauty. The most vulnerable area for aging is the area around the eyes.

Things to know about an Anti Aging, Eye Perfecting Cream:
  • Because the area around the eyes is so thin, it's not only more vulnerable to damage, it’s the first place one can begin to notice changes.
  • Most eye creams go through rigorous safety testing because of the potential for the product to enter the eye.
  • Facial moisturizers do not work in place of eye creams, because most contain active ingredients that are far too potent for the fragile eye area.
  • No eye product or cream should cause burning or stinging in the eye. If you experience these types of symptoms, discontinue use immediately.
  • Eye creams come in two basic "kinds": anti-wrinkle, and those that fight bags, puffiness and dark circles.
  • According to many experts, an eye cream should be the first step in any anti-aging protocol.
  • Eye creams tend to be more moisturizing (emollient), which makes them better for the area around the eye (due to the lack of natural oil glands and moisture on the skin nearest to the eye), and less so for the facial skin.
  • Consumers think the more eye cream they apply, the better the product works. This is not true. Use the directed amount because the active ingredients are taken into account when the directions are given.
  • Eye-tightening creams should be the last product you apply to your face (over foundation), because other creams, lotions and foundations can break down the active ingredients.
  • Creams, serums and gels all have pros and cons: Gels (without alcohol, which dry out the skin) are better for acne-prone skin. Emollient creams (suitable for normal to dry skin) work well under makeup.

Best Makeup for Acne Treatment
03.25.06 (3:05 am)   [edit]
What is the best face makeup for acne treatment?

Generally, it is a general formula that skin-care products did all the hard work and makeup had to make you look pretty. But nowadays the concept has changed. Makeup is pulling its weight, delivering a list of skin-care enhancements, from healing blemishes, fading fine lines, hydration, and protection from sun damage to improving skin texture. But is this the best Makeup for Acne Treatment?

Especially, acne-prone individuals need to select skin care and cosmetic products that are non-comedogenic because such products will not aggravate their acne. Clogged pores precede acne. A product that has been tested to be non-comedogenic will not clog pores and will help minimize the potential for breakouts.

Some products which contain active ingredients such as salicylic acid can actually help treat existing acne. At the same time they provide overall skin care and cosmetic function. Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid that can normalize skin turnover in a similar way to alpha hydroxy acids, but with less irritation. It can act as a mild exfoliate in areas of thickened or rough skin. Salicylic acid has been shown to unclog pores, have anti-inflammatory effects on acne lesions and help to clear existing acne.

Alcohol Consumption and Acne
03.24.06 (3:28 am)   [edit]

Alcoholism is a chronic, often progressive disease that can be fatal. The condition involves a preoccupation with alcohol and impaired control over alcohol intake. Alcohol is considered as one of the key culprits causing acne, especially in teenagers.

After the intake of the alcohol, when the body cleans itself, it sends drugs and alcohols out through skin via sweat. Alcohol is an astringent, which shrinks the skin pores. Also, it strips the top layer of the skin causing sebaceous glands to produce more oil. The result? Dry red skin and more blemishes. As the skin pores clog, oils and dirt are trapped in them, resulting in acne, white heads and black heads .

Generally, alcohol is taken to relieve stress. Though moderate alcohol is considered good for health, excessive alcohol causes inhibits sleep. Excessive sleep is seen as a sign of depression, as it causes fatigue - both mental and physical. Physical fatigue is also another cause of acne. Keeping alcohol intake in control helps fight alcohol.

But alcohol doesn’t enter body only through consumption. Many people advice toners to clean face or skin. However many toners available in the market contain high concentration of isopropyl alcohol or common rubbing alcohol. Such toners causes sever damage to skin instead of cleansing it.

Certain cosmetics, especially few moisturizers, foundation and pomades contain lanolin, petrolatum, vegetable oils, butyl stearate, lauryl alcohol and oleic acid. One has to be careful not to use these products.

So next time you want to have a beer or buy some cosmetics, make sure you keep in mind that your acne is going to get worse.

Probiotics – Better Treatment Option for Acne
03.23.06 (4:17 am)   [edit]

You might have come accross this word 'Probiotics' but is it really capable to cure your acne or infections? Just check it out!

Generally, we assume that bacteria are enemies to our health. In fact, the body is completely reliant upon a number of good bacterial strains in order to run some metabolic activities. Probiotics or friendly bacteria, present and active in the intestines, help in nutrient absorption, vitamin synthesis and waste elimination. The intestinal flora serves as a barrier, protecting against infections by avoiding the colonization of the GI tract by disease causing pathogens. Theese let anti microbial substances to enter your body stimulating the body's own natural defenses.

The word probiotic literally means ‘for life’. They help promote life.

A lot of research is being done on the use of probiotics or biotherapeutic agents. They inhibit the intestinal and vaginal tract. They help in competitive exclusion of pathogenic organisms.

If you are suffering from acne, you will notice a dramatic improvement to your skin if you take a probiotic supplement. This is because some research studies have shown that acne is linked to intestinal health. Researchers reported that increased blood levels of toxins are absorbed from the gut in acne sufferers.

Of course, these toxins come from those pathogens or bad bacteria that we talked about earlier. It has been found that in about 50% of cases of acne, the natural balance of the gut bacteria has been disrupted and the bad bacteria are running rings around good guys. In other words, the disturbance of the natural balance is an underlying cause. It means that probiotics really can make a difference to your skin, whether you are suffering from an acne outbreak or the odd embarrassing spot.

Skin Care and Acne
03.22.06 (1:36 am)   [edit]
How can you avoid acne infections with simple skin care techniques?

Do you know that just by following some simple skin care techniques you can avoid the problem of acne? Here are those techniques. Follow these suggestions and stay away from acne.

Regularly wash your face

Wash your face with a mild cleanser three times a day. Also wash your face after heavy exercise. Generally, some people with acne try to stop outbreaks and oil production by scrubbing their skin using strong detergent soaps and rough scrub pads. Though scrubbing will not improve acne; it can make the problem worse. Importantly, don’t forget to rinse your skin after washing.

Shaving and acne

Those who have acne can use electric or safety razor which is more comfortable for them. Guys who use a safety razor should use a sharp blade. They should soften their beard thoroughly with soap and water before applying shaving cream. Nicking blemishes can be avoided by shaving lightly and only when necessary.

Don’t handle your skin frequently

People who squeeze, pick or pop their zits develop scars or dark blotches on their face. They should also avoid rubbing and touching their skin lesions.

Avoid sunburn and suntan

Many of the medications used to treat acne can make a person more likely to sunburn. Sunburn that reddens the skin or suntan that darkens the skin may make blemishes less visible and make the skin feel drier. But these benefits are only temporary. And, there are known risks of excessive sun exposure such as more rapid skin aging. There is risk of developing skin cancer too.

Tips for choosing makeup

If you are getting treatment for acne you need to change some of the cosmetics you use. Cosmetics you use should be oil free. It will be hard to apply foundation evenly during the first few weeks of treatment. It is because the skin becomes red or scaly with the use of topical tretinoin or benzoyl peroxide. Oily hair products may eventually spread over the forehead and cause closed comedones. So it is advisable to use products that are labeled as noncomedogenic. And, in some people, even these products may cause acne. So it is necessary to take extra care with makeup.

Oleic Acid and Acne
03.21.06 (3:15 am)   [edit]

How oleic acid causes acne and how to avoid it?

How acne infections develop?

Testosterone is an androgen hormone that targets the skin and the sebaceous glands where sebum is produced. It combines with the enzyme 5alpha-reductase and produces dihydrotestosterone, which stimulates the sebaceous glands to produce increased volumes of sebum. This causes sebum to expel out into the follicular tube.

Propionibacterium acnes and other bacteria, which are on the skin and within follicles, produce bacterial lipases. These lipases move into the follicle opening and convert sebum into free fatty acids, which irritate the follicle lining. This irritation causes excessive production of cells and cellular debris, which block the follicle and trap P. acnes inside. P. acnes inside the blocked follicle breed and produce acne infections. Infections grow and irritate and inflame the skin. Macrophage cells of P. acnes produce histamines that cause the skin to become red, puffy and sensitive or even itchy. This leads to more follicle blockage and promotes more acne infections.

Linoleic acid prevents acne infections

Linoleic acid is a normal component of sebum. It is an essential fatty acid required by the body. It is generally known as omega oil, fish oil, safflower oil and in other terms. Essential fatty acids are very powerful anti-inflammatory agents. Sebum made with linoleic acid is healthy for the skin. Modern foods lack these essential oils. Instead they contain trans-fatty acids that may break down the body's supply of essential fatty acids.

Oleic acid causes acne

Due to low consumption of essential fatty acids or high consumption of trans-fats or hereditary factors, some people have systemic deficiency of essential fatty acids and linoleic acid. This condition is a driving factor for acne and other skin problems.

When linoleic acid is not available in the skin, the sebaceous gland produces sebum with oleic acid. This causes irritation in the skin and promotes acne. Sebum with oleic acid is drier, firmer and more prone to cause blackheads, whiteheads and promote follicular plugs that lead to acne infections.

How to avoid this?

People with very dry skin and continual follicle blockage – that lead to blackheads, whiteheads and acne - may benefit from increasing their consumption of foods rich in linoleic acid or taking supplements such as flax seed oil. But, don’t take flax seed supplements if pregnant or nursing.

Acne in Late Twenties
03.20.06 (3:01 am)   [edit]

To what extent acne affects people of late twenties?

< ahref="http://www.personahealth.com/Acne-Fighter-Night-and-Day-Facial-Cleanser-pr-16138.html">Acne is the term for blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, and even deeper lumps that occur on face, neck, chest, back, shoulders and even the upper arms. Though acne is not a life threatening condition, it is an upsetting problem and it disfigures your body. Under severe conditions, acne can lead to even serious and permanent scarring. Sometimes, even less severe cases can lead to scarring. Acne lesions are most common on the face, but they can also occur on the neck, chest, back, shoulders, scalp, and upper arms and legs.

Acne affects most teenagers to some extent. However, the disease is not restricted to any age group. Adults in their 20s - even into their 40s - can get acne.

Close to 100% of people between the ages of twelve and seventeen have at least an occasional whitehead, blackhead or pimple. Generally, these young people try to manage their acne with nonprescription treatments. For some people, however, acne is more serious. In fact, by their mid-teens, more than 40% of adolescents have acne severe enough to require some treatment by a physician.

Acne affects young men and young women almost equally. But there are differences in the extent of problem. Young men are more likely than young women to have more severe, longer lasting forms of acne. Despite this fact, young men are less likely than young women to visit a dermatologist for their acne. In contrast, young women are more likely to have intermittent acne due to hormonal changes associated with their menstrual cycle and acne caused by cosmetics. These kinds of acne may afflict young women well into adulthood.

Acupuncture for acne psoriasis allergies
03.17.06 (4:46 am)   [edit]

Acupuncture therapy is being continuously analyzed and examined for its creditability over acne, psoriasis and allergies. The results have turned out to be interestingly favorable to the Acupuncture therapy. A large number of people in this world now believe in Acupuncture as a great alternative medicine or means of cure for the above three.

Acupuncture is generally based on the ancient Chinese concept of medicine and cure. It is said, that our body has an energy force called Qi or (pronounced ‘Chi’) that governs our health, energy and state of well-being. Acupuncture theory states that Qi flows through the meridians in the body. These meridians are energy pathways in the body that run top to bottom on each side of the body.

A person becomes ill when this flow of energy becomes blocked. To unblock this flow of energy or Qi some tiny, sterile and flexible needles are pierced on the body along the meridians. This initiates body’s natural healing process (probably stimulates immune system).

Modern science has yet to verify this therapy. Acupuncture is widely accepted and trusted as an answer to wrinkles and sagging skin and reports have revealed that people with acne, psoriasis and allergies also experience benefits.

Other ways of acne cure
